Descrição
do Projecto
Giving
continuation to the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, this
Project pretendes to help European students to reflect and communicate
about the perception they have of each other. Learning basic notions of
each other’s language has been a key-element for the success of this project.
Normally Dutch and Portuguese students’ knowledge of each other
does not pass beyond a few clichés (Dutch tulips and windmills;
Portuguese sun and beach). Getting to know each other, working and
living together, learning Dutch/Portuguese, they will acquire a certain
perception of each other and each other’s culture. We wanted to confront
this perception with the image each group has of itself and reflect
together with our partners about the differences we discover.
Language learning constitutes an essential part of this approach
to intercultural dialogue. In a cycle of lessons in the partner’s
language, priority has been be given to basic structures and vocabulary
which, during the mobilities, would permit orientation in daily life
situations and maintain simple conversations with
the host-families.
With the help of an observation guide, the students studied 10
different aspects of the partner country. The working method included
lessons on various subjects, study visits, interviews and also a
presentation to the host-families and partner-school during a Cultural
Evening.
